Where to put the Center
– simple solution for a common central problem
In most 5.1 AV home situations a problem arises in correctly placing
the Center Loudspeaker: In cinema it is positioned exactly in the
middle behind the screen, at home you have to decide for a professional
placement of the Center or of the screen...
Industries have developed special designed Center loudspeakers:
You can put them below or above the TV. In both cases the result
is the wrong direction of the center signal.
Within the 2+2+2 loudspeaker array the listener is not confined
to a single listening point. This array can be used much better
for the reproduction of a phantom Center“:
For this you should give the Center Signal with a small matrix to
all 4 front loudspeakers . The phantom sound will result in the
crosspoint of all the four which means exactly in the TV.
In case you can individually level the different parts of the Center
signal you will be able to exacly positioning the sound whereever
the middle of your screen is.
In this 2+2+2 configuration the phantom center outside of the sweetspot
is much more stable.
